The Yorkshire
Completed in December 2022, the new Yorkshire building in Dartmouth will house a vulnerable population and help them get back on their feet - precisely the type of project we strive to accomplish! DORA partnered again with the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia and the North End Community Health Centre to bring this project to life.
Project Manager Tony speaks on the process and importance of the work done to transform the old Travelodge Hotel into supportive housing. Listen to what he has to say!
True North Crescent
The affordable housing project being developed on True North Crescent in Dartmouth is one more successful partnership between DORA Construction, our sister company Eastcut Wood Building Solutions and Passive Design Solutions. Proposed by The Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia (AHANS), the project will create 25 affordable townhouses in the area.
The project’s first phase is well underway and consists of 12 units: a 2-storey portion with four units, a 3-storey portion with 8 units, and a stand-alone utility.
Bridgewater Townhomes
Bridgewater is a thriving community on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. As in most of the province, the town’s growth creates the need for housing projects that make residents a part of something bigger. We are glad to be involved and develop effective solutions at DORA Construction. Led by our South Shore office in Lunenburg, the Bridgewater Townhomes project is a great example of community building!
Housing Crisis
Our Director of Affordable Housing & Public Affairs, Claudia Jahn, speaks to the current housing crisis in Nova Scotia. DORA Construction prides itself on its profound dedication to supporting the non-profit sector and establishing various housing developments to aid in the current crisis. Listen to what she has to say!
Akoma Fairfax Homes
DORA Construction is honoured to join forces again with Akoma Holdings for this crucial Rapid Housing development benefiting the African Nova Scotian Community. We're constructing four two-unit buildings, offering eight cozy and affordable 2-bedroom units, each spanning 768 sq. ft. These new homes are located in Dartmouth, catering to African American Nova Scotians in and around the Preston area. DORA has proudly collaborated with Akoma for three years, wholeheartedly supporting their impactful nonprofit initiatives.
Kentville DSP Home
Paving the way for inclusivity and sustainability, we're thrilled that Kentville marks our first successful partnership with the Disability Support Program!
With a tailored design for small-option homes, we're breaking barriers for Nova Scotians with disabilities. Now, they can enjoy accessible and sustainable residences that meet all program and licensing standards that feel like home.
The construction of the house was swift and energy-efficient, thanks to the innovative use of offsite manufactured wall panels by Eastcut Wood Building Solutions!
